Owl City

One of my favorite bands of all time is definitely Owl City. The reason why I love this band so much is because Owl City opened for my favorite band, Relient K, at a concert my then boyfriend Chase and I went to. We went on the last day of school, a great way to end both of our Junior years in high school. Owl City to me is a reminder of the great relationship Chase and I have, it reminds me of him more than any other music I listen to. It also reminds me of the summertime. Eating popsicles, watching fireworks, staying up late on weeknights, walking through the neighborhood with my honey. All the things that make summer fantastic! Owl City makes me smile :)

Awesome Teachers

I have really had some great teachers in my life. Many teachers have inspired me to be a better person and to be the best I can be, and I have decided to be a teacher partly because of the great teachers I have had growing up. Right now, I feel especially grateful for my high school Adult Roles teacher who taught me about important subjects I'll use throughout my life. Her advice and encouraging words of wisdom have recently helped me to avoid a terrible situation. Her influence in my life has been so greatly appreciated, and I am so happy to have had her and other equally inspiring teachers in my life. So thank you Mrs. Lucas, you make me smile.

Letters

I love getting letters in the mail. And I love having someone who sends me a letter every week. Every time I look in my mailbox, and see my name addressed on that small white envelope, I get butterflies in my stomach and feel giddy inside. My best friend is serving an LDS mission in Riverside California, and letters are the only means of communication that we have. I also love all things old-fashioned, and a letter is just the perfect way to let someone know that you care for them and are thinking of them. Letters make me smile :)

Showtunes Saturday

My favorite day of the week would probably be Saturday. It's the perfect day to kick back or finish projects that need finishing. But my favorite part of Saturday's are 7 pm - midnight for one reason: Showtunes Saturday. A radio station, 106.5, plays songs from my favorite Broadway musicals all night long. If I don't have anything to do on Saturday nights, it's not too bad because I can always count on my Showtunes! :) Anyone who knows me knows of my love of musicals and the beauty of Saturday evenings. My boyfriend of over 2 years, Chase, would take me out on dates every Saturday night. He knew me enough to have 106.5 preset on his radio so I could listen to my Showtunes every date night. I love my Showtunes Saturday! :)

Crazy Socks

I love wearing ridiculous, out-of-control socks. Nothing makes my feet happier than being decorated and cute. Which is why I paint my toenails and wear cute shoes/socks at all times. And when it comes to my socks, the more ridiculous and outlandish, the better. My socks never match, one foot may be multi-colored with little penguins and the other may be black with hot pink polka-dots. I love mis-matched obnoxious socks, nothing makes a rainy day better than such a pair.

Mr. Darcy

I have me a huge crush on Mr. Darcy from my favorite novel, Pride and Prejudice. Anyone who has not read it definitely should, it's a classic and is lovely. Mr. Darcy is my fantasy crush; I think he is wonderful in every way and I wish he were a real man so I could marry him. I've seen many film versions of Pride and Prejudice, and my two favorites are the six hour version with Colin Firth, and the newer one with Keira Knightley. I think Colin Firth does a fantastic job playing the part of Mr. Darcy, but my absolute favorite Mr. Darcy ever is Matthew Macfadyen who stars alongside Knightley in the more recent film. He's not what I would consider to be a beautiful man, which makes him even more Mr. Darcy-like to me. And by the end of the movie, especially in the scene were he's walking towards Elizabeth Bennett with his flowing shirt and cloak, I think he is absolutely stunning. So I will post that video, because it's a brilliant piece of work and I hope to marry a man who reminds me somewhat of Mr. Darcy. Mr. Darcy makes me smile. :)

These Things I Love...

My name is Rauni and I decided to make a blog about random things in life that make me feel happy and never cease to make me smile. Which is why my best friend and I named it the name which it has! I love wearing dresses, it makes me feel so feminine and pretty and I wish I were bold enough to wear dresses every single day, instead of just on Sundays at church or other special occasions. I think ladybugs are super cute, along with butterflies. Pink is my favorite color of all the beautiful colors, and nothing can make my day better than daisies! Bring them both together, and life can't get much better than that. :)
